Moonlight Cafe, Madgalen Street, Norwich

Location:
Madgalen Street
Norwich
Norfolk.

Cleanliness Score: (This score is separate from other scores that come later) 5.5/10.
I would gladly give more points, but I witnessed a young boy, relative of the owner, going into the food preparation area.

General Overview:
Moonlight Cafe is a cafe opposite Anglia Square in Norwich city centre, the food served is pretty much what you'd expect from a cafe. Burgers and Chips alongside sandwiches.

The Service:
The service at Moonlight Cafe is actually very good, my meal would come with Salad, but I asked to replace this with another side order, this was done with no problem. I did not meat a server that spoke English as first language whilst I was at the cafe, but all spoke English to at least a communicative level, so that is certainly not a problem.

The Product:
The food from Moonlight Cafe is delicious and fresh, when the plate arrived at my table, I put the salt and vinegar on my chips, prepared my sources and tucked in, only to bite into a chip that was so hot I knew it had not long been out of the fryer.

The food tasted very mederterian, which reminds me of childhood holidays to the Greek isles, and on my visit we even had Greek weather, so was a very nice experience.

The Value:
The food here is frightfully cheap, my meal cost me a whisker under £4 for mains only and no accompanying drink, this is unbelievable. The food doesn't particially taste cheap, it doesn't taste as you would expect from a Michelin staff chef, but hey, for £4 its one the best meals you'll get for the price.

The Ambiance:
This is the point where I feel my forehead and my palm meeting with a dull thud. There where a few children around while I was there, and maybe I am just old fashioned, but I like to eat my food in peace, there defiantly isn't the more sophisticated atmosphere I have experienced in some other cafes.

Facilities and Other comments:
The facilities do, to be frank, leave a lot to be desired, there is no separate toilet for staff, or gender separation to be honest, there is a single toilet, where there is no wheelchair access or baby-change facilities.

Also the hand drying towels, well, i'll be blunt, I used kitchen role, was on top of a towel stall I assume to be empty.

Pizza Genie, Plumpstead Rd, Norwich

Location:
Pizza Genie
Plumpstead Rd
Heartsease
Norwich.

Cleanliness Score: (this score is separate to 'the scores on the doors) 9/10

General Overview:
Pizza Genie is a kebab house in the east of Norwich, providing a little bit more than the usual Kebabs you may get from establishments serving those who can barely stand up, feeling the effects of alachol, Pizza Genie genuinely serve good tasting food.

The Service:
Pizza Genie provide excellent service, whether it is the owner on the till or phone, or the driver delivering the food to your front door, from this kebab shop you get service with a smile, leaving you feeling like a valued customer from the second you walk in to the second you leave, or if you prefer, from the second you pick up your telephone to the second your food arrives, which is not that long after the call is made.

The Product:
I have had many different items off the menu from Pizza Genie, and have enjoyed every single one of them. I would gladly return to this establishment if I was in the area, or even if I wasn't, I'd make a special trip to get my delicious meal.

The Value:
Pizza Genie is very well priced and is far cheaper than other local outlets. I can eat a meal for under £5 and the portions are a fair size, not huge but larger than I have had from similar establishments.

The Ambiance:
There is no space to dine at this establishment so it is very hard to gain any ambiance, but the waiting area is very comfortable, and well decorated. The server will talk to customers when he has time to, but he often cooks the food as well, making this difficult.

Facilities and other comments:

Owing mostly to its size, there are not really any facilities to speak of, however, there is a copy of a national newspaper available to read while your food is being freshly cooked.

Mcdonalds Resteraunt Norwich City Centre

Location:
Haymarket
Market
Norwich.

Cleanliness Score: (This is separate from 'the scores on the doors') 8/10

General Overview:
It is, I feel impossible to write a 'General Overview' of this Resteraunt as it is part of a uniformly-conforming international chain, so I will instead comment on the building.

This particular Mcdonalds is not in the normal style building that we have come to associate with Maccy-D's (seriously look, all have  very similar buildings) as the building on the Haymarket used to be a public house. Some original features remain but the interior is not in keeping with the exterior I feel.

The Service:
'Come to McDonalds for bad service' say the masses, well the masses should come here, the girl on the till when I was being served was polite, curtious and helpful, even informing me of some special offers they had on, yes I spent more money, but I got an extra item for a reduced price, an apple pie, and I love my Maccy-d's apple pies.

The Product:
Well, once again, it is difficult to know what to say, its Mcdonalds, food that tastes fairly good for a price that doesn't leave you crying. There is nothing that separates the food served here from the food served at other Mcdonalds stores.

The Value:
Mcdonalds have a 99p (Euro 1,13) menu which offers fantastic value, they of course offer more than just this menu, but the food is very good for the price.

The Ambiance:

It is a preference of mine not to eat surrounded by younger children, and as one would expect, Mcdonalds is a resteraunt where there are several children around, but there is a take away option if this is a serious problem for you.

Facilities and other comments:
Mcdonalds offers many facilities and this resteraunt has easy disabled access despite  being in an old building, however the only toilet on the ground floor is a disabled one, with able-bodied gender separated toilets on the first floor. When this floor is closed in the evening for cleaning, this can cause problems.

Scores on the doors:
 Service: 9/10
Product: 8/10
Value:   10/10
Ambiance: 5/10
Facilities: 6.5/10

Overall Average: 7.7/10

Other info:

The cities main bus stops for all other services are about 6 mins away and the bus station is about 10 mins away on foot.

Munchy's Cafe Norwich

Location:
Queens Road,
Norwich,
Norfolk

Cleanliness Score: (This is separate from the 'score on the doors') 7.75/10

General Overview:
Munchy's is a good old fashioned English cafe in the heart of Norwich, situated on the Queens Road, about 150 yards from Norwich bus station and about a mile from Norwich rail station.

The Service:
We have all I am sure, heard the old cliche, 'service with a smile' but here at Munchy's you genuinely get service with a smile. Nothing is to much for the friendly front of house staff to do to make your visit perfect.

The Product:
Munchy's serve great food at unbelievable prices, the food is Delicious, however if like me, you can not eat for an entire army, it is a good idea to tell the staff as the portions are very very generous.

The Value:
I am unemployed and therefore have to be very careful what I do with the little money I have, it is for this reason I visit Munchy's as often as I can, I can eat a very good meal and desert with a side of bread and butter  for around £6, which compared to many independent eateries is incredibly well priced.

The Ambiance:
When eating here, it almost feels like you are eating in the chef's home. From the second you enter to the second you leave you feel very welcomed and like a valued customer. The chef/owner even comes down to speak to customers when he has a spear moment between cooking moorish meals, I have never experienced this anywhere else I have ever eaten.

The ambiance is defiantly very relaxed and the decoration is more what you would expect from a sophisticated French cafe rather than an English cafe, but this is in consistent throughout and works very well with the feel of the cafe.

The Facilities and other comments:
The toilets at Munchy's are very clean but are a fair way from the dining area and can be hard to find, however, simply ask the helpful staff and they will gladly point you in the right direction, still unsure? Then they will show you, thats Munchy's commitment to service.

THE SCORES ON THE DOORS:
Service: 10/10

Value:    9/10
Ambiance: 8/10
Facilities:  7/10

OVERALL AVERAGE: 8.7/10 (VERY GOOD)
